He was a member of the Saint John’s Reformed church and Sunday School. Its staff included 300 free blacks that had daily contact with a flow of wealthy Southern businessmen who came north and east. Frankenstein Cliff (and later its neighbor, the Trestle) was named after Godfry Nicholas Frankenstein, who was born in Germany in 1820 and immigrated with his family to the United States in 1831. William Hyde Wollaston (1766-1828) and was popularized by Abraham Follett Osler (1808-1903).

By this deed, and by virtue of the former consolidation of the Flushing & Woodside Railroad, the new corporation became vested of all there was remaining of value in the Flushing & Woodside Railroad. Later, Captain Cliff remembers the Florida Motor Lines bus and the Overseas Freight Line vehicles passing back and forth where the northbound traffic lane of U. The exact amount of damage to the freight is not yet known. It was not until October 1892, that work began in earnest to construct labor camps and wagon roads to the tunnel sites.

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) is an industry trade group representing primarily the major freight railroads of North America (Canada, Mexico and the United States). In 1873, the Blossburg and Corning Railroad and the Wellsboro and Lawrenceville Railroad were merged to form the Corning, Cowanesque and Antrim Railway. As this image was first published in the United States before 1922, I believe this image is in the public domain. It lives through stories like those of the heroism of Kate Shelley and the sounds of Chicago & Northwestern trains as they cross the county dozens of times a day.

It is further claimed that one half of the tonnage of the Reading Company comes from the Mine Hill and Schuylkill Haven road. While talk of spreading the railroad west occurred, interest did not become serious until after California joined the Union and the discovery of gold. The city incorporated the railroad into a recreational bike path known as the Little Miami Scenic Trail, which is more than seventy miles long. Effective Dec. 30, 1870 the entire Rutland System came under lease to the Vermont Central and Vermont and Canada railroads.

Christmas at Strasburg Rail Road - Plan Early! In March of 2008, OPR 1810, a GP7u and a slug, No. 1010, were both repainted and sold as a unit to a railroad back east. The earnings in the State of Illinois, for the same period, aggregated $4,374,923, and the expenditures $3,712,593. NOTE: Some of the data presented on this page and the accompanying charts, may be in error, some omissions are surely to have occurred. In 1910 the Salt Lake and Ogden Railroad electrified its line between those two cities.
